ok, so technically this didn't happen today. but i'm in a particularly halloween-y mood today, so i decided to post pictures from a recent photoshoot we did with my cousins. we all are deeply in love with halloween, so we went all out and transformed ourselves into a skeletal bridal party. all photos were taken by my incredibly talented sister for briston photography, hair was done by my two amazing cousins, and i did the makeup.
ok, when i typed that title i realized it didn't make as much sense as i thought it would. but it's staying.
hey guys, remember me? i haven't blogged in such a long time. i started this blog to kind of be a journal for myself and my college days, and then i ignored it. but i am going to really try to be better about it.
so the past few months have been eventful. i finished my semester of school, got a new job, became close to my roommates, moved, got new roommates, instantly got really close to them, and went on many random adventures. and now i am back and am going to continue this little online journal for myself. just to show you guys a few pictures of the past few months...
we went to the festival of colors
we went to seattle and made the beaver face
we celebrated 2nd halloween.....which is halloween in april
we discovered some ridiculously awesome nerd glasses and named ourselves the nearly normals
we went to the rennaissance fair. it was weird.
we had a fiesta and dressed in full costume.
most of these activities were with my ridiculously awesome cousins. we have a blog for all our weird adventures you can check out if you want to. also these photos are pretty much all courtesy of my amazingly talented sister.
thanks for sticking with me through my no-blogging phase, and cross your fingers that i'll be more reliable from here on out. also, here's a video of this song i've been obsessed with for a few days. it's from shrek the musical.
it's once again awkward and awesome thursday. i haven't participated in this little game for quite some time, but i had a desire to make a list today, so here goes.
awkward
- the girl who was running up a small hill toward the shuttle this morning. she fell face down into the snow, and everyone on the bus tried to stifle bursts of laughter. then when she tried to get up, she fell again, and just stayed there, lying face down in the snow while the shuttle pulled away. waaay awkward.
- somehow in my sleep last night, i managed to not only pull my comforter off the bed, but also the pillow, the fitted sheet, and the bedskirt. oh, and i pulled the pillowcase off the pillow. i don't know what i do in my sleep but i woke up laying on a bare matress.
- my roomies and i watched a show called the last american cowboy for two hours today. it's about ranchers.
- yesterday, i was looking for my keys. they weren't in my purse, so i checked my backpack. they weren't there either. i proceeded to tear apart my freshly cleaned room in frantic search of my keys. finally i discovered where they were. sitting on my desk. right in front of my face. whoops.
- i then went out to my car, and tried to unlock the door. no matter what i tried it would not unlock. i was completely befuddled, until i realized it was not actually my car. sorry stranger whose car i was unwittingly trying to break into. again, whoops.
awesome
- this past weekend, i glued silver leaf to someone's face, swam in a volcano, and wandered through castles made of ice. it was epic.
- my roomies and i just went to cafe rio with our hair in messy buns, no makeup on, and wearing sweats. and it was delicious.
- i had the opportunity to catch up with a few amazing friends this past weekend. i love my friends, they are truly the greatest in the world.
- the new(ish) adele song, rolling in the deep. listen to it below, it's amazing. for some reason it makes me think of a road trip.
- having a day off work to do pretty much nothing productive. it's refreshing and awesome.
in class today, we had an assignment due. what was the assignment? we had to teach each other a new skill. in my group, we learned how to float a paper clip on water, make an origami cup, make an origami butterfly, and cut a peice of paper into a loop long enough to step through. yes, this is school. i taught how to make the cup. it took about 60 seconds. i am a true master.
i hope you all had a beautiful valentine's day yesterday. i pretty much did nothing special. i worked, grocery shopped, and did laundry. you may expect this to turn into one of those little rants about how valentines day is stupid or commercialized. how we should all love each other every day, and there's no reason to declare a specific day to do so.
wrong. i love valentines day. i don't care about the commercialistic aspects, or the mushy gushy stuff. but i choose to celebrate the fact that there is a day when people are likely to have love on the brain. they think about each other, make plans, and try their very hardest to make the person they're with feel like the only person in the world. yes, we should absolutely love each other every single day, but what's wrong with having a day when we are all really focused on it. that's like saying we should be grateful Christ was born every day, so there's no need for christmas. valentines day promotes love and caring about each other. we could all use a little more of that. so relax, all you valentines haters. appreciate that busy working men are out at the grocery store on their way home, buying flowers for their wives. it's beautiful and we should be grateful that we celebrate love.
if you forget what true love looks like, just watch this.
she loves jimmer, a player on the byu basketball team
no really, i am. it is so cold today! walking to class this morning, i was pretty sure my ears were going to fall off. i got a massive headache because my forehead was so cold, and my eardrums hurt. okay, i'm done whining. honestly though, this is the coldest day since i've been up here, by far. my roommate looked up the temperature this morning on ksl. i don't remember what the temperature was, but i do remember the little red warning that told us to limit outdoor activies to 30 minutes or less in order to avoid frostbite. that's cold man.
when i got home from class today, i was walking up the steps to my apartment, and there was a little gift on the stairs for us. want to know what it was? undies. that's right friends, women's underwear right there on the stairs. hopefully at some point, someone will pick it up because i just left it there.
there's also an aggie basketball game tonight that we're all going to and i'm insanely excited. i love love love basketball up here. there's no other school like ours when it comes to basketball games. here are some videos to show you what it's like.
this happens after a win, we chant the score, and call them the losing team. ruthless, i know.
this is before the game, we believe that we will win.
oh man, i'm exhausted. it has been a really big week for me. you know those times when you feel like you would happily trade a kidney for some much needed rest. i'm having one of those times. i had a mini-sobbing break while i was getting ready for my class this morning. so instead of showering and getting looking presentable, i just sat and cried. so today, i'm exhausted, my hair is greasy, my eyes are stinging, and i have the prospect of another long work weekend. it's not great.
on a happy note, i'm having a movie party with my awesome aunt and some of my cousins tomorrow night. i also got a new job up here in logan! so things are looking up. i just need some major sleep. and maybe a spa day.
today i had my first elementary school observation. it was so fun. i observed a class of third graders at an elementary school here on campus.
there were lots of happy little moments, but my favorite came while the kids were learning spanish. they learned how to say romance in spanish, and the teacher asked them "what is romance?" one little boy immediately raised his hand and said, "romance is when two people fall in love and they kiss!" this was followed by all sorts of moaning and various gagging noises from the rest of the class. several more students had answers to the question, but my other favorite was, "romance is when you can't stop thinking about someone." my heart melted.
in other news, i dare you to not burst out in manic fits of laughter at this little treasure.
